2 Days Mahabodhi Temple Tour of Bodhgaya from Varanasi

Day 1: Varanasi-Bodh Gaya [250 Kms/ approx. 5 Hrs]

You will be picked up by our driver at 08.00 am from your hotel in Varanasi. Bodh Gaya tour package from Varanasi will begin with travelling to Bodh Gaya by road. You will be dropped at the booked hotel in Bodhgaya. Soon after taking some rest we will leave for exploring rustic town with sparse population.

First visit will be to ‘Sujatha Village’ famous for Sujatha Stupa. The place is named after daughter of a rich merchant who offered kheer (an Indian sweet dish made of rice and milk) to Gautam Buddha; when he turned utterly weak during the process of attaining enlightenment. It is believed that after having kheer from Sujatha Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. An 11 metre high Sujatha Stupa (a Buddhist shrine) is erected in memory of Sujatha where people come to pay respect.

‘Mahabodhi Temple complex’ is next great attraction as the descendant of sacred peepal tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment is present here. The foot of the tree is occupied by Diamond throne or Vajrasana established by Emperor Ashoka. The temple complex boasts cluster of small temples, a meditation garden, lotus pond, Mahabodhi Stupa, 25 metres high Buddha statue, Royal Bhutanese Monastery, etc. The museum inside the complex is updated with Buddhists artefacts highlighting major aspects of Buddhist culture.

Sign off the day with a lazy evening in the cozy hotel room followed by overnight stay.

Day 2: Bodhgaya-Varanasi by Road (B)

Breakfast buffet will be ready for you to try the delicious varieties. After a sumptuous breakfast bid adieu to the serene town and leave for Varanasi airport or Hotel by our chauffeur driven car. Enjoy your onward journey.
