The origins of Costa Rica are enriched by an unparalleled heritage that is safeguarded in one of the main museums of the city of San Jose. In an iconic building you can tour the Costa Rican history through exhibitions with extraordinary, numismatic and artistic objects. Its main hall is the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum where artifacts are the protagonists whose complex elaboration and detailed design are extraordinary within the heritage of Pre-Hispanic cultures. The exhibition shows part of the collection 1586 pieces of pre-Columbian gold with which these Museums have. The room of the Museum of Numismatics displays the largest collection of Costa Rican coins and banknotes worldwide. The tour of this room is a journey through the different stages of the economic, social, political, cultural and even architectural history of the country. To these exhibitions, temporary exhibitions that relate to the three collections are added. It is in them where Costa Rican art acquires prominence and nuances the historical perspective with the creative expression of more than 164 Costa Rican artists.
