Small group catacombs and underground Rome tour

During this tour you’ll visit one of the famous Roman catacombs, you will see the Capuchin Crypt and one among the most interesting churches of Rome - San Clemente. All this in comfort of a minivan and in the company of one of our expert guides. Limited to only 7 people our small group underground Rome tour will begin with the visit of the Capuchin Crypt, also known as The Crypt of the Bones, located under the Santa Maria Della Concezione church which was built in the early XVII century. Consisting of five successive chambers it is likely to leave a lasting impression on you. The Crypt in the past centuries used to be a burial place of the monks and the chambers are decorated in patterns constructed entirely of bones of around 4000 monks! The next stop will feature the Catacombs of Priscilla located on the ancient via Salaria road. Often considered “regina catacumbarum – the queen of the catacombs” they are the most ancient and important of all the Rome catacombs. Famous for the wonderful paintings these catacombs are the perfect testament of life of the early Christian communities and feature the most ancient image of the Virgin Mary currently known. Dug from volcanic rock these tunnels are over 13 km long!
