A propos de cette activités
This biological private reserve is a magnificent place to have an intense contact with the forest and its surroundings. Here we will find trails through the jungle to hike and discover all of the wonders it holds. After a one hour ride in a four wheel drive truck through mountain paths, we will get to the Pocosol Station, a scientific center created for the research of flora and fauna and which is located alongside a lagoon of volcanic origin at 1100 meters above sea level. The purpose of visiting the area is to hike the 4 hour long trail, admiring the primary forest, the volcanic soil with its fumaroles, the Pocosol Waterfall with a height over 50 meters, the observation deck which allows us to watch its fall into a river canyon, as well as the incredible flora and fauna including a large variety of animals, like wild boars, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys, and many types of birds. This research center is part of the reserve Children’s Eternal Rainforest, which is administered by the Monteverde Conservationist Association, and holds 22,000 hectares of protected forest. It is also one of the most important and oldest reserves of Central America, and the largest private reserve in Costa Rica.
