Al-Bidyah Mosque 

Al-Bidyah Mosque in the northern part of Fujeirah city has the distinction of being the oldest in the UAE. The mud-brick construction was named after the town that was once present around the mosque. It is fascinating to visit this ancient mosque and marvel as the engineering feat that the builders achieved centuries ago. It consists a prayer hall that is decorated with arches. In addition, the hall has ventilation and a prayer niche. The hall is divided into four squares, thanks to the central pillar. 

Archaeological excavations around the mosque have found an Islamic graveyard that has a tomb that dates back to the Iron Age. Archaeologists have found artifacts in the tomb that were dated to 1000 BC. 

Fujairah Fort

Fujeirah city tours always include Fujairah Fort, which was constructed in 1670. It is believed to be the oldest fortification in the UAE which used to house the royal family as well as served as a defensive structure. 

The fort was damaged by the British in an attack in the early part of the 20th century. However, since then it has been restored, and is part of the Heritage Village.
