Cape Town | Twelve Apostles To Sandy Bay Hike
1 day
A propos de cette activités
It’s hard to beat the views that you enjoy on this walk! The hike starts on the Pipe Track which was built in 1887 to service the pipeline that brought water from the Disa River, on Table Mountain's Back Table, to the Molteno Reservoir in the city. Even before that there was a small path between Kloof Nek and Kasteelspoort, the easiest route up the mountain from the Camp's Bay Side. We walk on this trail with the hike imposing Twelve Apostles mountain range above us on a comfortable mostly gentle walk. As we round the last bend of the upper trail (2 hours or so from the departure point), we descend into Camps Bay where a sumptuous lunch awaits, either prepared as a picnic or at a seaside table (seasonal), the perfect reward and sustenance after an invigorating morning's activity. Camps Bay is a bustling and beautiful beach town with a gorgeous stretch of wide sand.
With lunch behind us, we shuttle to the picturesque seaside village of Llandudno for the afternoon's beach and coastal walk section. This follows a wild meander along a coastal contour path. The trail takes us to Oudeschip via the white sandy beaches of, appropriately named, Sandy Bay - with the peaks of the Twelve Apostles now towering in our backs. At Oudeschip, our turning point, we enjoy a cold beverage and a rest, taking in the sun and surf, while contemplating one of the Cape's most well-known shipwrecks. As the sun sinks lower towards the Western horizon, we retrace our footprints, the sun is caressing our backs, and once again the massive peaks of the Twelve Apostles are towering directly over us.
